Cass Sunstein, President Obama's choice to be "Regulatory Czar" for the powerful White House office overseeing all federal regulations, is apparently already making his presence felt in the new administration. He had an interesting, frankly scary statement in a position paper regarding health care cost-benefit analysis and regulatory policy:

"I urge that the government should indeed focus on life-years rather than lives. A program that saves young people produces more welfare than one that saves old people."

One wonders if this attitude will drive any new government health care program proposed by the Obama administration.

FRC has posted a profile of Mr. Sunstein in our Change Watch area.
