A new scholarly paper makes the case that there are more carnivorous plants around than we know. Prof. Mark Chase, of the Royal Botanical Society, and his colleagues suggest that while some plants may be more passive than active in their carnivorous ways, "We may be surrounded by many more murderous plants than we think."
Their published review paper is a well-illustrated read on the history and classification of carnivorous plants.
